Stuck On A Bus, Ballroom Dancing, etc.

January 29th, 2010 · 12 Comments

Some randomness today…

Yesterday it snowed.  The weather forecasters said “snow showers.”  It was snowing when I got up, it was snowing when my high schooler got on the school bus at 7:05am, it was snowing when my middle schoolers got on the school bus at 7:33am.  It was snowing at 8:30am when my middle school daughter called me, still on the bus, still on our road!!! Near our house the road is pretty level, but down a little it becomes steeper.  It turned out that the middle school bus picked up 5 kids, including my 2 then it got to the steep part and it was way to slippery to continue.  The bus driver pulled over and waited.  Finally after an hour he told the kids to call their parents to get them off the bus.  I am happy that he didn’t attempt to continue.  The roads were terrible.  After many buses having to pull off the road, our school district decided to delay school opening for 2 hours for all the kids that hadn’t been picked up yet, and the buses were told to not move until salters and plows cleared the road.  I drove to the bus (thank goodness for 4 wheel drive!) and got my kids and kept them home for the day.  I figured they deserved it!

Can you always see the photos I post here?  A reader emailed me and told me that she can’t always see my photos.  I have no idea why.  This really bothers me.

My son that is in 11th grade is finishing a nine week unit of ballroom dance in PE today.  His PE teacher has invited all the parents of her dance students to watch a “dance-off” that the students are doing this afternoon.  My response when I got the invitation was, “Yippee, I can’t wait!”  I started thinking, “I need to charge my camera battery and make sure I have enough room on the memory card, and what lens should I use?…”  My son’s response was, “Nooooo, you can’t go to it.  No other parents will be there.  Don’t goooooo.”  Last night I told him I didn’t know if I’d be there or not.  I really want to go, but I don’t want to embarrass him or make him feel extra nervous if he sees me.  I think I’ll go and if there’s a lot of parents, I’ll stay.  If I’m the only one in the audience, I’ll leave.

My crochet hearts wall hanging giveaway is open for entries until February 3, 2010!  Don’t forget to enter if you haven’t already!

I have to laugh at myself. I saw that photo and my first thought was “what kind of flowers are those???” and then I realized it was SNOW, not flowers. Ha.

The picture thing would really bother me, too. I, personally, never have problems seeing your photos… except in my Reader. For some reason, I can only see the text, not the pictures.

My sister is the same way about having anyone at her events. She plays a lot of sports, but never lets any of us attend. Only my dad and only sometimes. Maybe you could sneak in? Wear a disguise? If there are a lot of people there, awesome. Just hide behind the crowd. 😉 Good luck!

Love the picture — the white snow & green pine needles & bright blue sky are beautiful together. And yes, I always see the pictures that you post.

I hope you’ll go watch your son dance. If you’re the only parent there, hide behind a post or something so he can’t see you!!
