Relaxing After The Parade & Vacation Gone Bad

July 30th, 2009 · 17 Comments

Who's This?

Who’s this relaxing?  One of the marchers from the Parade?

Ahh, yes.  It is!

Timmy July 2009

I hope you’re pets are relaxing, too!

Our vacation, what to say about it, my poison ivy ruined it.  I am so upset about it.  We drove to Hershey, PA on Monday.  It was about a 5 hour drive.  We played some mini-golf, had some dinner and that was about it.  During the night itching woke me up several times.  I got up in the morning (Tuesday) to brand new rashes, covering the front of my thighs, around my knees and on any spots of my calves that hadn’t already been covered previously.  I took my Zyrtec, my Benedryl and slathered on the steriod cream.  We went to Hershey Park.  Not fun walking around in the heat with long pants on, with itching, painful rashes and feeling the effects of the Benedryl to top it off.  We didn’t stay long.  I just couldn’t take it.  My two oldest kids didn’t care.  They weren’t into it at all.  I just feel so bad for my youngest son.  He was so looking forward to the rides.  We went on a few before we left the park.  We went back to the hotel and played another round of mini-golf.  My boy is so sweet, he said, “At least we had fun playing mini-golf.”   That night I noticed that my entire stomach was covered with spots.  We drove home the next day, Wednesday.  The new rashes are better.  So far the spots on my stomach haven’t developed into a rash.  I’ve got new spots on my left forearm.  We’ll see what they do.  Sigh.  Tomorrow will be better, right?

Not again! You poor thing. That darn stuff can be hard to shake. I avoid it like the plague after a rough go about 30 years ago.

    Hang in there!!

I don’t know much about poison ivy, but geez, isn’t there anything more the doctors can do??? This is terrible!

Awww. I’m so sorry! Can’t they put you on prednisone to help banish the rash? Sending happy anti-itch, rash-go-away vibes your way…

That totally sucks :-( Poison ivy, get lost!!!!

Love the shot of Timmy’s shadow — very creative :-)

You’ll get to bring your kids on plenty more vacations when you’re poison ivy-free :-) In the meantime, how about a little “staycation”?? Check out some fun places around your city that you haven’t been to before :-)

Doh! What an experience! I feel for you, yikes!
I saw a lady last year at a mineral spa who was having a wicked reaction to poison ivy, her whole body was covered in an almost open sore rash. I can only imagine!
I hope you heal quick! Really quick and no more break outs!

I’ve had a few episodes of full body hives (cause unknown) and it seems they take forever to go away. I find they are especially lovely when on the face ;o)

    Feel better soon!
