This is the current condition of our pool.
The beach ball is down there waiting.
It’s a mess.
But there is a surprise hiding down there in the murky water. (Don’t worry, it’s not a bad one!)

We discovered her today and she is already named, by my youngest son. Her name is Bentley. At first we assumed that she was a boy, but after my daughter did some internet research we think she is a girl.

My daughter discovered that if the tympanic member is about the same size as the eye, it’s a girl. If it is larger, it’s a boy. So, I introduce to you, Bentley the girl Bullfrog!
She was a good reminder to me today that even in places where it seems that nothing special exists, you just need to look a little deeper.
Have you made one of these discoveries lately?

Why yes indeed. I’ve gotten quite a few unexpected, pleasant surprises by Mother Nature lately.
Wonder what sound Bentley makes…

i saw a tiny little frog just the other day and was going to post a photo. he/ she was sitting on top of a moon sculpture – so cute. he was the same color as the sand sculpture.

Hi Se’Lah!
So far we haven’t heard a peep from her! It has been cold here. Maybe they are quiet until their water warms up.
Hi elk!
That is a good question. We are looking into low cost options now, but nothing seems to be low cost when it relates to a pool. My kids want Bentley to live inside in a tank!
Hi spread your wings!
How cool!

Adorable! I love frogs and I think the name is fantastic! Thanks for reminding me to look a little deeper for that something special.

Last year we had a little frog or maybe it was a toad, move into my little water fountain. He/she lived there all summer. I’m interested to see if he/she returns this year. Do you have any plans for your pool?

Are frogs reptiles? Cute frog, but I am P-Petrified of reptiles. I wonder if there are slithers in there? Are you going to redo your pool? I’ve always wanted a pool, but now my inlaws have one at each of their houses, so I think I’ll do without! They are high maintenance!

Hi Shalet!
Yes, my kids love Bentley and want her to live in the house with us!
Hi Chocolate and Whine!
It funny that sometimes when I need it most (like yesterday when I was in a bad mood) something special presents itself. I’m thankful that I was able to get out of my mood enough to appreciate it!
Hi Shannon!
That would be interesting to find out if your little frog/toad returns!
Hi Angela!
Frogs are amphibians, not reptiles. We do have snakes around, but not in that murky water (I hope) because that would be creepy. I like snakes but I don’t want one to surprise me! You are right, the pool is a high maintenance annoyance!

My boys would love the frog! They have done more than one report on frogs to convience me to buy them. One time we found a Barking Tree Frog. It really barked like a dog!!! It would be in the other room and you would think there was a dog in there. No joke! We let him go in our yard.
Your photo is awesome!
