Comfort Drawer

March 13th, 2009 · 14 Comments

One of my favorite photographers and bloggers, Diane at Life’s Sweet Ordinary and Diane Schuller Photography, posted about creating a comfort drawer.  In it you would include “small indulgences” for when comforting is needed.  She is having a great pay-it-forward giveaway as part of her post! One of the ways to enter her giveaway is to post (or comment on her blog) about what you would include in your comfort drawer.  This got me thinking about what it is that comforts me.  Which lead me to, “Would it fit in a drawer?”   Okay, here we go with the things that would fit!

In my comfort drawer I would include:

  • Photos of my husband, my children and my Timmy.
  • A favorite book. Probably a funny one.
  • Lindt chocolate truffles, dark, milk and white.
  • a crochet hook and some yarn
  • a pencil and paper

That’s all I can think of!  Now, here’s what my list would look like if it was a comfort room, not drawer!

  • All of the above, plus:
  • tea bags, sugar, milk, water, spoon
  • my favorite tea cup
  • a refrigerator for the milk
  • a sink, for the water
  • a microwave to heat the water
  • my couch
  • the crochet blanket my mom made for me
  • Real live Timmy
  • I’m not sure about real live hubby and kids.  You know, sometimes the kids bickering gets in the way of comfort! And, the hubby? He’s not really the comforting type.
  • Some toast with butter and jam, and of course everything that’s needed to make it!

Hee hee.  I think I need high maintenance comforting.

Go on over to Diane’s blog and let her know what would be in your comfort drawer to enter her giveaway!

haha – I am with you on the kids. The word kids and comfort room don’t always go together (on rare occassions yes) do they?

Hmmm? A comfort drawer, you say? How about a comfort closet, with soundproofed and padded walls? Sounds good to me.

By the way, I have something for you on my blog!

    Hi Tamara!

Very nice! Photos are comforting, aren’t they?

What a sweet idea…a comfort drawer…but I, like you, would need a comfort room. When I pack for a trip, I am often accused of packing everything but the kitchen sink…same concept…comfort on the road!
