This Is Not A Resolution

This is the screen on our elliptical machine.  We bought it last January with all kinds of wonderful talk about staying in shape during the winter months of doing nothing.  I did use it.  I told it my name!  I told it how I wanted to start off with 20 minute workouts that were very easy.  I even did those workouts.  I even managed to get to the point that I was able to do it’s pre-programmed 30 minute Cardio, Strength and Interval Training workouts.  And then I stopped.  I don’t remember why.  Probably I got a cold or something and decided to take a few days off.  And. That. Was. The. End.

Oh, I have gotten back on it occasionally.  Never for more than three days straight.  There’s always something else to do.  There are fun things like crocheting and reading and doing things with my kids.  There’s playing with Timmy.  There is cooking.  I like to cook most of the time!  There are the regular obligations and chores that are not fun, but that have to be done.  But my elliptical machine remembers my name and welcomes me when I do come back to it.  Maybe it would be better if it scolded me for being away so long.  Maybe it should remind me of the medical problems that exercising might ward off.  Maybe it should sweet talk me and tell me how great I am when I do get on it!  Maybe it should offer to clean the toilets and vacuum for me if I spend 30 minutes a day with it!  Yes!  That might work!  But, that’s not going to happen.

Therefore, I am not, in front of all of you, resolving to spend 30 minutes a day with my elliptical machine in 2009.   Nope.

Is there anything you’re not resolving to do in 2009?

I am the same way. I start working out, get very into it and feel really good about myself and then one little thing happens and I quit.

I tell myself that if I only I had a machine IN MY HOUSE (and didn’t have to drive to the gym) I’d use it while I watched TV, but I know that’s a lie.

And I don’t even have kids to use as an excuse!

    Hi Stephanie!

I guess this is one of those misery loves company things. I’m glad I’m not the only one! I sure do wish I could make exercise a life-long habit though.

    Hi ELK!

Chocolate truffles are my favorite! If they are in the house, I have one every night after dinner.

My wishes for a sweet 2009 for you and your family also!

I’m going to try and stay away from PW so I can fit in my jeans again…

    Hi 4funboys!
Thank you for visiting and commenting! That’s so funny, I tried Kay’s roasted potato recipe from PW’s site tonight. It was really good!
