Snow Day!

December 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Timmy woke me up this morning at 5 am.  He wanted out of his crate, which is right next to my side of the bed.  Often in the early morning he wants to come and snuggle in bed with me.  Of course I let him!  Then, at 5:12 am, the phone got me up with a great message, “School is closed!”  Then at 5:30 am my youngest son got me out of bed because his throat was hurting.  Not great.

My daughter just got the all clear on her lungs on Wednesday, no more pneumonia, thank goodness.  Our pediatrician told me that there are a large number of cases of pneumonia and gastrointestinal illness in our town currently.  He also said the strep throat is “rampant” right now.  This is one of the reasons I dislike winter – illness.   So…that’s a roundabout way of telling you why my youngest son is not in the snow day photos.  His throat feels bad and he didn’t want to go out.  He did get some enjoyment out of his snow day.  He helped me roll out gingerbread, cut out the house shapes and transfer them to the cookie sheet.  He was much better at the transferring than I was!

My daughter and I spent some time outside.  We walked around and talked and it was great.  The times that I get to spend with each of my children one on one are so special to me.  I think those are special times for them, too.  I sure hope so.

My teen-aged son had no interest in coming outside in the snow.  The school cancellation was a doubly good surprise because he had  finished his homework that was due today, and now has no work for the weekend!  (Same for my younger kids, but my oldest has more work assigned on Friday for the weekend than they do.)

Timmy came out for a little while and he was running around like a nut!  He was too fast for me to catch with the camera!  Polly went outside only out of necessity.  I tried to get a photo of her in the snow, but when she saw I opened the door, she high-tailed it inside!

I hope this weekend gives you some beautiful scenery and no sore throats!

What a bummer to have a sore throat on a snow day! I’m hoping we get through Christmas with no illnesses!

Thank you so much for your kind comment about my photos today. It means a lot.
