I have a tiny vegetable garden this year with a 5 foot high fence around it to keep the deer, groundhogs, rabbits (and any other wild critters) from getting the veggies before we get them. It is so tiny that I had to plant my three zucchini plants elsewhere. That turned out to be next to our small pool shed, which is fenced in with the pool. Look at what I harvested yesterday:

- My trusty helper checks out the snake skin!
Inside the pool shed it is hot and humid and apparently a wonderful habitat for snakes! Luckily, so far, we are harboring only garter snakes. The skin is about nineteen inches long. Now, I am not afraid of snakes, but I really don’t want to be reaching for a zucchini under those huge leaves and grabbing a snake! I am going to do some careful veggie picking from now on!
